Three problems every hospitality housekeeping director knows — and rarely fixes.

The Noise Problem

90 dB vs. 75 dB. That gap is every daylight cleaning hour you lose.

A standard commercial upright runs above 90 decibels. Your property’s guest noise threshold — the level at which housekeeping noise triggers complaints and review mentions — is 75 dB. That 15-decibel gap means your team cannot run upright vacuums in occupied guest areas. You clean at 5am, or you get TripAdvisor mentions about “noise during our stay.” The Mastercraft WAV’s quiet motor design is rated for noise-sensitive environments. Your cleaning window just became every hour of the day.

The Coverage Math

One WAV operator does what four upright operators do. Not an exaggeration.

A standard 13-inch commercial upright covers roughly 3,500 sq ft per hour. Your full-service hotel lobby, main corridor approach, and restaurant entry is 15,000 sq ft. That is four hours of labor for one person, or four people for one hour — neither of which fits your pre-breakfast window. The Mastercraft WAV covers 25,000+ sq ft per hour with a 28-inch path. Your 15,000 sq ft lobby takes one operator approximately 30 minutes. That is not incremental improvement. That is a completely different operation.

The Cord Problem

One cord across a lobby floor is one fall, one incident report, one review.

Extension cords across hotel lobby floors are the single most preventable source of housekeeping-related guest incidents. They are also the most cited reason housekeeping teams cannot clean during occupied hours — because a cord crossing an active lobby is an OSHA incident waiting to happen. The Battery WAV eliminates every cord from every floor area. No outlet hunting, no cord management, no trip liability. Your team cleans when and where the property needs it, not where the outlets allow it.

Zero cords.

The Mastercraft Wide Area Vacuum

The only commercial-grade wide area vacuum built in the USA that cleans carpet and hard floors at 25,000+ sq ft per hour — in a single pass, with no attachment swaps, in a cordless battery configuration built for all-day hospitality use.

For most hospitality applications, the Battery WAV (SV280B) is the right choice. Cordless operation eliminates cord hazards in occupied areas, enables cleaning across all zones without outlet proximity constraints, and provides all-day run time via the dual-battery rotation system.

Every hospitality operation has the same floor. Not every team has the same math.

Director of Housekeeping

Full-Service Hotel

You manage 200+ rooms, a 12,000 sq ft lobby, three restaurant approaches, and a team of 35. Your 5am floor crew spends 90 minutes vacuuming what one WAV covers in 24 minutes. That’s not a small inefficiency — it’s one full labor shift per week you’re funding in early-morning overtime that doesn’t need to exist. Redeploy those hours to rooms. Your score goes up. Your labor cost goes down.

Your TripAdvisor score depends on one thing more than anything else: cleanliness. 74% of travelers say it’s the #1 factor in their reviews. You run a lean housekeeping team covering a lot of square footage. When one WAV operator can handle the lobby, terrace approach, and restaurant floor before 7am breakfast service — alone — you stop choosing between clean and well-staffed. You get both.

You’re standardizing equipment across 8–20 properties. Housekeeping labor is 35–40% of your operating cost per room. A machine that covers 8× the floor area per operator-hour is not a cleaning tool — it’s a labor efficiency tool. Battery models ship to any property. No outlet proximity requirement. No property-specific constraints. Contact us for fleet pricing and multi-unit terms.

Event Venue · Conference Center

Ballroom · Convention Center

You have a 60-minute window between the 11am conference break and the 12pm sponsor luncheon. The room is 8,000 sq ft of carpet. One WAV operator completes it in 16 minutes. Your current setup takes 45 minutes and two people. That’s the difference between your next event looking freshly turned and looking like the last event never left. The battery model needs no outlets in your venue floor. It goes where the event is.

Hospitality frequently asked questions

Can we vacuum in occupied guest areas without disturbing guests?
The Mastercraft WAV’s quiet motor design is specifically rated for noise-sensitive environments during occupied hours — including hospitals during patient care, which operate at a stricter noise standard than hotels. Most hotel operators report the ability to clean lobbies, corridors, and restaurant approaches during shoulder hours without guest complaints. The standard we use for comparison: the guest noise threshold in hospitality is approximately 75 dB; standard commercial uprights exceed 90 dB; the WAV is designed to stay below the threshold.
Does it clean both carpet and hard floors without changing attachments?
Yes. The Mastercraft WAV is engineered for carpet as its primary surface — corridors, ballrooms, guest room approaches — and transitions to hard floors (marble, tile, wood, LVT) in the same pass, without stopping to change settings or attachments. A single cleaning run moves from carpeted corridor → carpeted event hall → marble lobby without interruption.
How long does the battery last, and what happens when it runs low?
The Battery WAV (SV280B) ships with two 36V lithium-ion batteries and one charger. The dual-battery system is designed for hot-swap rotation: while one battery powers the machine, the second charges. When the active battery needs replacement, the operator swaps in the charged battery and puts the depleted one on charge — extraction continues without interruption. This eliminates any mid-shift downtime for charging. For most hospitality applications (lobby + corridor coverage), a single battery charge covers the primary cleaning zone before a swap is needed.
What is the cleaning path width and how does that compare to what we use now?
The Mastercraft WAV has a 28-inch cleaning path. For comparison: a standard commercial upright vacuum has a 12–14″ path, and most walk-behind commercial vacuums have a 20–24″ path. The 28″ WAV path covers more than twice the floor area per pass compared to a walk-behind and more than eight times the area per operator-hour compared to a standard upright. On a straight 100-foot corridor run, the WAV completes the same pass in roughly one-eighth of the time of an upright operator.
Is this a walk-behind or ride-on machine? Can one person operate it?
The Mastercraft WAV is a walk-behind machine designed for single-operator use. It navigates corridors, elevator lobbies, banquet room aisles, and breakout spaces that ride-on equipment cannot access. One operator can cover a standard full-service hotel lobby and main corridor approach in under 30 minutes without assistance.
How big is the dust bag and how often does it need to be changed?
The Mastercraft WAV uses a 14-gallon dust bag, engineered for full-shift capacity in most hospitality applications. On typical lobby and corridor cleaning routes, the bag does not need to be changed mid-shift. When full, the bag is removed and replaced — no tank to dump, no fine-dust cloud on removal. The optional Cloth Filter Bag with zipper closure (add-on at $189) provides a reusable, washable alternative with zero waste per cycle.
Do you offer fleet pricing for multiple properties?
Yes. Multi-unit and fleet pricing is available for hotel management companies, ownership groups, and properties purchasing two or more units. Contact our hospitality team at (845) 565-6555 or hospitality@mastercraftusa.com to discuss fleet terms, volume pricing, and staggered delivery for multi-property rollouts.
What warranty comes with the WAV?
The Mastercraft Wide Area Vacuum carries a 1-year commercial warranty on the motor and structural components, and 90 days on wear and tear parts. Because the machine is manufactured in Newburgh, New York, replacement parts are always in domestic stock — no overseas lead times for service. Our team services machines directly and supports parts ordering by phone and email.
What surfaces can the WAV not handle?
The Mastercraft WAV is designed for dry surface cleaning — it is not a wet vacuum and should not be used for liquid extraction or wet spill recovery. It is also not designed for outdoor use on gravel, sand, or uneven outdoor surfaces. For wet extraction applications (pool decks, flood events, kitchen spills), Mastercraft offers a separate Pump-Out Flood Vacuum. Indoor dry surface cleaning on carpet and hard floors is the WAV’s primary use case.
How quickly does the WAV ship, and what does delivery look like?
Standard orders ship within 3 business days of order confirmation. The machine ships fully assembled and ready to operate. Expedited delivery is available on request — contact us before placing your order if you have a tight pre-opening or event timeline. Fleet orders with multiple units are fulfilled on a coordinated schedule with your facilities team.
