The Cleanup After the Removal
Abatement Work Ends in Dust Work
Removing old material fills a work area with fine dust. A standard shop vacuum's filter is not rated for fine particles, so much of what it picks up can pass through its exhaust. A HEPA vacuum is built to hold it in the machine.
Fine Particles Pass Through Ordinary Filters
Dust from removal is fine enough to pass through a standard vacuum filter and back into the work area. An INFILTRATOR® HEPA filter with Critical Filtration, rated 99.97% at 0.3 microns, captures particles down to that size before the air leaves the machine.

How asbestos, lead and mold work is done is set by your work plan and your project's requirements. The vacuum's job is the pickup: dust and debris go into the tank, and the exhaust air passes through an INFILTRATOR® HEPA filter rated 99.97% at 0.3 microns.

The tank vacuums pass their exhaust through an INFILTRATOR® HEPA filter with Critical Filtration, rated 99.97% at 0.3 microns, and the Probe 10's sealed INFILTRATOR® HEPA cartridge carries the same 99.97% rating. What HEPA rating do these vacuums carry?
Each Enviromaster Series tank vacuum passes its exhaust air through an INFILTRATOR® Type A HEPA filter with Critical Filtration, rated 99.97% efficiency at 0.3 microns by the Hot DOP method, and the INFILTRATOR® HEPA filter bags ahead of it are rated 95% at 0.3 microns. The Probe 10 backpack ships with a sealed INFILTRATOR® HEPA cartridge, also rated 99.97% at 0.3 microns by the Hot DOP method. That is the rating we state for this equipment. Is the HEPA system sealed?
On the 5, 7, 9 and 15 gallon, yes: they carry a sealed Critical HEPA filter, so the exhaust air goes through the filter. The Probe 10 backpack ships with a sealed INFILTRATOR® HEPA cartridge, rated 99.97% at 0.3 microns by the Hot DOP method.
Can I use it on asbestos, lead or mold jobs?
It picks up the dust and debris your crew removes, and passes the exhaust air through an INFILTRATOR® HEPA filter rated 99.97% at 0.3 microns. How the abatement or remediation itself is done is set by your work plan and your project's requirements.
Which dry model should I choose?
All three dry models move 94 CFM with 84 inches of water lift. The 7 and 9 gallon use a 1.3 HP bypass motor; the 5 gallon uses a 7.5 amp motor and is the most compact. Choose by tank size: 5 gallon for small rooms and stairwells, 7 gallon for rooms and corridors, 9 gallon for larger rooms. For stairwells, ceilings and overhead surfaces, the Probe 10 backpack stays on the operator's back.
Can the 5, 7 or 9 gallon pick up water?
No. The 5, 7 and 9 gallon are built for dry pickup; picking up liquid damages the motor and voids the warranty. The Probe 10 backpack is built for dry pickup too. For areas that are still damp, the 15 gallon wet/dry is rated for wet and dry pickup and has a float that shuts off suction when the tank is full.
