The 55-Gallon Industrial Vacuum System Built for Every Facility That Cannot Afford to Stop and Empty

Two purpose-built drum adapters. One runs on 120V: correct for most industrial facilities, composite fabrication shops, and power plants. One runs on compressed air only, zero electrical components: the only safe choice for aerospace hangars, chemical plants, refineries, shipyards, and any environment where a live motor creates a spark, arc, or electrocution risk. Both give you 55 gallons of capacity and the infrastructure you already have on site.

Three Things That Are Costing You Time, Money, or Someone’s Safety

No operations manager loses sleep over CFM numbers. They lose sleep over FOD incidents in the hangar, OSHA citations for uncontrolled dust, and the shift that ran four hours over because the vacuum needed emptying every eight minutes.

Capacity

Your Crew Stops Every Eight Minutes. Not Because the Work Is Done.

A standard 15-gallon industrial vacuum fills fast under real working conditions: composite grinding, abrasive blasting, boiler ash, bulk debris. Six to eight tank cycles per hour. Every cycle is paid labor that produces zero output. The DA1512 gives your crew 55 gallons of working capacity. They stop when the job is finished: not when the tank is full.

Safety & Compliance

An Energized Motor Does Not Belong in a Fuel Zone, Flood Zone, or Explosive Atmosphere

Aerospace hangars adjacent to fuel systems. Chemical plant floors. Flooded mechanical rooms. Active washdown areas. In every one of these environments, a live electric motor is either an OSHA incident or a process safety violation waiting to happen. The DA-MAV16 runs on your compressed air line. Zero electrical components. Zero arc potential. Zero live current. No spark. No exposure.

Infrastructure Fit

Most Facilities Are Already Wired or Plumbed for One of These Adapters

If your facility has 120V outlets, the DA1512 plugs in. If your facility is plumbed with compressed air lines: as most aerospace hangars, shipyards, and heavy manufacturing plants are: the DA-MAV16 connects to the air drop you already have. A 55-gallon drum is standard in virtually every industrial environment. The vacuum is infrastructure you already own.

Where This System Works

Any facility that generates debris, liquid, dust, or particulate at industrial scale. The determining factor is not the application: it is the power infrastructure your facility is built around. Electrical outlets point to the DA1512. Compressed air lines point to the DA-MAV16.

Featured Application

Aerospace & Aviation MRO

Aircraft MRO generates composite dust, titanium and aluminum grinding particulate, and FOD that OEM specs and OSHA mandate must be controlled at source. Both adapters provide 55-gallon continuous capacity: the DA1512 for fabrication shops with standard outlets, the DA-MAV16 for fuel-adjacent hangars and air-plumbed zones with zero electrical components.

DA-MAV16 air-powered drum adapter in use at aerospace MRO hangar
Chemical & Petroleum

Explosive Atmospheres

Refineries, solvent processing, and chemical plants require spark-free equipment throughout. The DA-MAV16 has zero electrical components: no brushes, no arc potential, no live current. Compressed air infrastructure is standard in these facilities.

→ DA-MAV16 (Air-Powered)
Manufacturing & Machining

Metal Chips, Coolant & Grinding Dust

CNC floors, press rooms, and fabrication shops generate continuous high-volume chips, coolant, and metal dust. 55-gallon capacity means fewer interruptions to production shifts. Both models are suited depending on available power supply.

→ Either model by power supply
Power Generation

Boiler & Turbine Maintenance

Boiler outage cleanup, turbine bay maintenance, and plant infrastructure work generate sustained high-volume debris. 55-gallon collection allows extended continuous working periods without stopping to empty during planned outages.

→ DA1512 (Electric)
Shipbuilding & Marine

Hull Blast & Coating Recovery

Shipyard abrasive blasting, hull prep, and coating removal inside confined hull sections generate massive debris volumes. Shipyards are plumbed with compressed air throughout: the DA-MAV16 connects to existing air infrastructure with no additional electrical runs.

→ DA-MAV16 (Air-Powered)
Automotive & Paint Booths

Abrasive Media & Overspray Recovery

Paint booths and body prep areas accumulate abrasive media, paint solids, and sanding dust throughout production shifts. Flammable solvent vapor in active booths makes pneumatic-only operation mandatory for safety compliance.

→ DA-MAV16 in flammable environments
Food & Pharmaceutical

Powder, Dust & GMP Compliance

Combustible powder on food and pharma production floors is an explosion and contamination risk. High-volume collection in a sealed drum keeps particulate contained and off the floor. Both models applicable depending on power infrastructure.

Two Adapters. One Principle: The Work Stops on Your Terms.

The DA1512 runs on 120V AC: for standard electrical infrastructure. The DA-MAV16 runs on compressed air only, zero electrical components: for aerospace hangars, chemical plants, shipyards, and any environment where a live motor is a hazard. Both fit any open-top 55-gallon steel drum and include filter frame and cloth filter for standard dry pickup. Wet filter assembly available as an add-on for liquid recovery. See the Filter Configuration Guide below for options.

Which adapter is right for your job?

Choose the DA1512 if…

Your facility has 120V outlet access and your work is manufacturing cleanup, boiler or turbine maintenance, composite fabrication (dry), bulk material recovery, food or pharma production, or any indoor industrial environment where standard electrical infrastructure is available and safe.

Choose the DA-MAV16 if…

Your facility is plumbed with compressed air lines: as most aerospace hangars, shipyards, chemical plants, and heavy manufacturing plants are: or if your environment involves flammable vapors, explosive atmospheres, flooding, or active washdown where an energized motor is a safety risk. Requires 90 PSI minimum at 70 CFM.

HEPA Configuration Available

HEPA Dry Configuration: Fine Particle Capture at the Source.

Standard cloth filters capture large debris. The HEPA dry configuration goes further: fine particulate — silica dust, carbon fiber, asbestos fibers, pharmaceutical powders — is captured before it reaches the exhaust. Available on both the DA1512 (electric) and DA-MAV16 (air-powered).

What HEPA Captures

Silica dust. Asbestos fibers. Carbon fiber and fiberglass particulate from composite grinding. Pharmaceutical active ingredient powders. Lead paint dust. Titanium and aluminum grinding fines from aerospace MRO. All captured before reaching the exhaust stream.

When You Need It

Environments where fine particulate poses a respiratory hazard and a cloth filter would allow particles to return to the workspace through the exhaust — including silica dust work, asbestos disturbance, composite fabrication, pharmaceutical production, and lead paint removal. For compliance documentation specific to your application, call 1-845-565-8850.

The DA-MAV16 HEPA Advantage

The DA-MAV16 DAF combines air-powered operation — zero electrical components, zero spark potential — with a HEPA dry configuration. For aerospace hangars, chemical plants, and refineries where combustible dust or flammable vapors co-exist with fine hazardous particulate, it is an air-powered drum adapter available with HEPA dry filtration.

Choose the Right Setup for Your Application

All configurations use the same adapter head. The difference is what goes between you and the exhaust.

Frequently Asked

If you don’t find what you need here, call us at 1-845-565-8850. Technical staff, not a script.

What is the difference between the DA1512 and the DA-MAV16?

The DA1512 is electrically powered (120V, 2 HP) and is the right choice for facilities with standard electrical infrastructure: manufacturing plants, composite fabrication shops, boiler rooms, power plants, food processing, and pharmaceutical facilities. It delivers 112 CFM and 106″ of waterlift.

The DA-MAV16 runs on compressed air only, with zero electrical components. It is the correct choice for any environment where a live electric motor creates a hazard: aerospace hangars adjacent to fuel systems, chemical plants and refineries with explosive atmospheres, shipyards, paint booths with flammable vapors, flooded rooms, and active washdown areas. It delivers 170 CFM and 250″ of waterlift. It requires a compressed air supply of 90 PSI minimum at 70 CFM (½″ airline ID): standard in most facilities already plumbed for pneumatic tools.

Is this system suitable for aerospace MRO and composite dust applications?

Yes. Both adapters are used in aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations. The primary considerations in aerospace are FOD (foreign object debris) prevention, composite dust control, and: in fuel-adjacent or explosion-sensitive zones: spark-free equipment.

For composite fabrication shops and assembly bays with standard 120V outlet access, the DA1512 is the practical choice. For hangars plumbed with compressed air lines, or for any work near fuel systems or engine test cells, the DA-MAV16 is the safe choice: zero electrical components, no arc potential.

For composite dust and fine particulate control (carbon fiber, fiberglass, titanium, aluminum grinding fines), both adapters collect into a sealed 55-gallon drum: keeping particulate contained rather than exhausted back into the work area. Specify at order time if your application involves fine hazardous dust: our industrial team can confirm the correct filter configuration for your material and regulatory environment.

The system is GSA-approved and available for federal procurement by USAF, Navy, Army, DLA, and defense contractors. Call 1-845-565-8850 for agency pricing and procurement documentation.

What are the three configurations available?

Dry (standard): Ships with a filter frame and cloth filter. Correct for boiler ash, industrial dust, abrasive blast media, coarse particulate, and general cleanup. Available on both DA1512 and DA-MAV16.

Wet/Dry: Adds the Wet Pick-Up Adaptor (305987) to the standard configuration, enabling full liquid recovery alongside dry debris pickup. No need to swap equipment — one unit handles both. Available as DA1512WD (electric) and DA MAV16WD (air-powered).

HEPA: Adds a HEPA filter to the configuration, capturing fine particulate before the exhaust stream. For environments where fine particle release is a concern. Available as DA1512 DAF (electric) and DA MAV16 DAF (air-powered).

When do I need the HEPA configuration?

You need HEPA when your application involves particulate that poses a respiratory or regulatory hazard and a cloth filter would allow fine particles to return to the workspace through the exhaust.

Relevant applications include silica dust work, asbestos disturbance, composite fabrication (carbon fiber, fiberglass, titanium grinding fines), lead paint removal, pharmaceutical production, and combustible dust environments. If you are unsure whether your application requires HEPA, call us at 1-845-565-8850.

If you are unsure whether your application requires HEPA, call us at 1-845-565-8850. Our industrial team can review your application and regulatory environment and confirm the correct filter specification.

Can the DA-MAV16 be used in explosive atmosphere (ATEX) or OSHA hazardous-classified environments?

The DA-MAV16 has zero electrical components: no motor, no switches, no wiring, no arc or spark potential. It is operated entirely by compressed air. These characteristics make it the relevant consideration for environments where electrical equipment presents a hazard — including areas with flammable vapors, combustible dusts, or active washdown conditions.

If your facility or application requires formal ATEX certification documentation, contact us before ordering: 1-845-565-8850. Our industrial team can provide technical specifications and discuss compliance documentation relevant to your classification zone.

Do I need to buy a drum separately?

Yes. Neither adapter includes a drum. Both are designed to fit any standard open-top 55-gallon steel drum (18-gauge, open head). These drums are widely available from industrial suppliers, safety supply distributors, and drum manufacturers. If you need to move a loaded drum across your facility, the Mastercraft® Heavy-Duty Drum Dolly is available at checkout.

What compressor does the DA-MAV16 require?

The DA-MAV16 requires a compressed air supply capable of delivering 90 PSI minimum at 70 CFM through a ½″ inside-diameter airline. In practical terms, this means a compressor rated at approximately 7.5 to 10 HP minimum at the rated working pressure. Most contractor compressors used for pneumatic tools, spray painting, and general industrial use meet this requirement. If you are unsure whether your existing air supply qualifies, contact us before ordering.

Can these adapters handle wet material and liquids?

Both the DA1512 and DA-MAV16 are rated for wet and dry pickup. For high-volume liquid recovery (flood water, washdown water, process liquid), the DA-MAV16 is the preferred choice because its 250″ waterlift handles the higher differential pressure needed to move liquids efficiently, and its lack of electrical components means there is no live current at the machine when working in wet environments.

Is the Drum Dolly necessary, or is it optional?

The Drum Dolly is optional but practical. A standard 55-gallon steel drum weighs approximately 40 lbs empty and can exceed 450 lbs when full of liquid. Moving a loaded drum without a dolly is a manual handling hazard. The Mastercraft® Heavy-Duty Drum Dolly is engineered with industrial casters rated for the full weight of a loaded drum, allowing one person to reposition the system safely on a flat surface. If your facility already has drum dollies or a drum-handling system, you do not need to add it at checkout.

Are parts and service available for these units?

Yes. Mastercraft® has been manufacturing industrial cleaning equipment since 1946 and maintains a parts and service program for the drum adapter line. Replacement motors, filter assemblies, hose kits, and accessory components are available directly through Mastercraft® USA. For service inquiries, call 1-845-565-8850 or contact us through the website.

Is Mastercraft® equipment available through government purchasing programs?

Yes. Mastercraft® products are GSA-approved and available for federal, state, and municipal procurement. Purchase orders are accepted from government agencies. Volume pricing is available. Contact us directly for agency pricing, cooperative purchasing options, or documentation required for your procurement process.
